>>Project/Request Title: MozSpace Sticker: Taipei >>Project Overview: Mozilla's Taipei office does not have a MozSpace sticker. Received many requests at Summit for a sticker for this office. Their office claims to have created one that serves the same purpose - however I haven't seen it; I've requested they send their version to me and will forward it if they send. >>Creative Specs & Deliverables: MozSpace sticker, same format as other stickers - Illustrator file. >>Launch Date: 2013-10-21 >>Creative Due Date: 2014-01-01 >>Mozilla Goal: Corporate Support >>Points of Contact: pproffett@mozilla.com

Assigning to Lee. (Jen, Lee said he would take this one...he already has some ideas to explore.)

Pauline, quick question: who would be the right person or people from the Taipei office to add to this bug? We usually like to get some locals to provide comments before we finalize the stickers.
Hi John - Natasha Ma (nma@mozilla.com) is the person who communicated to me in the past about the Taipei sticker. They were going to send me the sticker they've been working on but never did - I asked a couple times and she said they were still working on it - maybe you can find out what they're up to :) I emailed her asking whether she would be the contact for this or if someone on her team would be more appropriate but feel free to reach out to her directly. Will let you know if/when she responds to me.
Thanks Pauline, I'm still on the hook for this design but would love to have Natasha as a point person for locale-specific ideas.
Hi, I'm represent the community designer Joe, who'd hacked the sticker from original designer's version from Taipei office, and this one had been voted out by community and staff across Taiwan. We were feel sorry for that I don't find this bug until last week, thus hardly to update the process we'd got on the bug. The lack of communication problem should be definitely improve at our side, in the future if any of the artwork is co-design across countries and across community+paid-staff. I'll give a short brief of the process how this sticker birth (and why so delay.) # After Summit, the designer in TP office start with 2 different design of the sticker, and get a vote for which to be proceed. This one had been voted out on the end of Oct. # While the designed had been voted, we (community) feel the design is not well enough for printing out and for accomplish with other offices sticker, so we have 2 community volunteers to try remix the design, at about mid of Nov. # https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8344311 (png) This design is one of the remix of Joe and me (both from community), and had been voted out at the second round, the design including a Taipei 101, the night of the city, and the "walking small green man" from Taiwan's traffic light. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiaoluren ) and firework. * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8344312 * https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8344313 This 2 .ai files is the original file from Joe, which Lee may be used to remixed again. I'd saw many ways to improved the design, for ex., I once consider to remove the `firework`, and make it into a 'shining coating', and 'Taipei 101' also had some improving possibility if we look at it closely, it's far more from 'done' on my own opinion and criteria. But as I said, please also consider the idea of the original design, and how the sticker had been evolved, for that this one actually had been voted and recognized by ~50 local staff and volunteers.

Irvin, thank you so much for the background of your processes and providing the working files. I really hope that we can come up with a design that the Taiwanese community and Taipei office enjoys! Here are 2 directions that I've been working on. One (left) is using the themes that you and Joe had used in your design; a night-scene, urban, fireworks festival and the 101 Tower. The second (right) uses some imagery that I had been wanting to explore; more of a day-time theme, traditional Asian depiction of clouds, and the 101 Tower. Keep in mind that these are design directions, and I will be refining the illustrations once we decide on which one to take. I really hope you like what I have done here, and apologize if anyone feels there was wasted effort on the first iterations/voting etc. In the end, I think we're going to end up with something great.
Hello John (or Tom), Could you let us know more about the 'design guideline' of Mozilla stickers ? Since we did refer to the design of the stickers from other offices, but seems hard to come out with such an unique guideline. Since nobody provided this guideline to us before. And if it's available now, it could help us to move forward based on Tom's work or Taiwan community member's. Thanks.

Hi Lee, As the problem of dual sticker effort seems to be resolved now, I can give some suggestion on your design. Hope it's not too late. I guess the first design (the night with firework) will be more favor by local peoples, it's more consistence as the city's tone (which is largest and consider as more "CITY" then others in Taiwan), and the year end firework at 101 skyscraper is the largest celebration across the whole year in Taipei. As the second one, in fact, cloud pattern is more "China" feeling than "Taiwan". Taiwan is a combination of Chinese, Japan, America and aborigines cultures. I think people here don't really treat cloud pattern as our local symbolic. For ex., the most sale movie in Taiwan in history, is a story about Japanese Taiwanese love and history background "Cape No. 7"[1], and second one is a story about aborigines warrior epic under Japanese rule day "Seediq Bale".[2] [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warriors_of_the_Rainbow:_Seediq_Bale [2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_No._7) Maybe you can think more about this special culture combination when designing the sticker.
And there's also 2 really popular movie came to my mind, "Monga"[1] and "Night Market Hero" which describe the younger people in gang (in the 80's Taipei) and night market scene nowadays of Taiwan, and it's have shows the Chinese influence of local culture and people's life.
