Simona, any other information about this issue that you could share? Does this happen on debug builds?

I don't understand what is going on here at all, so it's hard to figure out where to start thinking about fixing it. I have some vague hope that bug 927393 might help, but 'vague hope' is optimistically formulated.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0
Build ID: 20131024030204

I could not reproduce the issue on a Firefox 27 debug build but I can reproduce it on a non debug Firefox 27.0a1 build.

The exact steps I use to reproduce are:
1. Open Firefox with a new profile
2. Open several tabs (pin some of them)
3. Go to the about:support page, choose to Reset Firefox and from the Welcome Back page click on the Restore button
4. Repeat step 3 several times (7-8 times does the trick for me)

Expected results:
After resetting Firefox, the browser is restarted and the previous profile is backed out in the Old Firefox Data file.

Actual results:
Firefox is not restarted, no other profile is generated and the last profile that was generated is not existent in the Old Firefox Data file.

Does this reproduce on Firefox Beta (26) Beta 1?

Ioana, please have Simona or someonelse test this on Simona's machine from comment 1 to confirm.

Paul has worked on this today and will update the bug as soon as he's done.

Something might be broken with Simona's machine. I couldn't make any Firefox (20, 23, 24, 26b1) automatically restart after simply resetting the profile (for the first time, without any tabs opened). And the Firefox process doesn't appear to remain active in the background.
I couldn't reproduce the issue on another Ubuntu x86 machine.
What do you suggest?

Check to see what's different between the two machines (hardware, software, versions, etc). If this is only reproducible on Simona's machine then I suspect this is INVALID.

> I couldn't reproduce the issue on another Ubuntu x86 machine.
That was Ubuntu 12.04 x86, AMD Radeon HD3000.

The initial machine was: Ubuntu 13.04 x86, ATI Radeon HD 5450.
I reproduced the issue described in comment 5 (simply reset the profile and Firefox won't automatically restart) on another 2 machines:
Ubuntu 13.04 x86, AMD Radeon HD 6450
Ubuntu 13.04 x86, AMD Radeon HD 7700
The issue is reproducible starting with FF 20 release, everything's ok in FF 19.

Trying to get a range with mozregression, I see the "reset Firefox" button is missing in about:support. Any idea why? If I manually download the nightly builds, the "reset Firefox" button is there.

We only show the reset Firefox button if you're using Firefox with the default profile from profiles.ini. mozregression creates blank profiles, so you're not using the default profile, so you don't see the button.
Any idea what's broken here per general ?
Thus far this issue has been Linux-only and a major edge case (resetting many times in a row). We'd take a low risk fix, and will help find an owner, but no need to track.
Not tracking per comment #10
Dropping qawanted since Paul was able to reproduce the issue on 26 beta 1 and I reproduced it on both 26 beta 1 and 26 beta 6 using Ubuntu 12.04 x32. If there is anything I can help please let me know.
