Details

(Whiteboard: [nativo] [EGIDS:5] [UNESCO:vulnerable])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130624104217

Steps to reproduce:

As per the UNESCO Interactive Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger, Angika (anp) [1] is in the vulnerable state. This is sad but a fact. With a language not only the language dies; with the language, history, intellectual and cultural diversity and cultural identity also die. So need is to preserve the huge loss of precious human languages that are dying one by one.

I want to work for creating Mozilla Products in Angika language with the help of the community. Hope the community here will support the cause. Angika is commonly written in the Devanagari script [2].

Rajesh, could you more clearly define your participation in this new locale, as well as what you expect from the l10n drivers as it pertains to the l10n process by filing this bug please? I don't think it's actionable for us until an effort has commenced and we see things like a team wiki page pop up and discussion concerning the locale on the new locales newsgroup.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff!

I saw your blog about language preservation and Mozilla: https://blog.mozilla.org/l10n/2012/06/28/mozilla-and-language-preservation/ and your help will be crucial in making the dream of Angika Community true.

Few months back I participated in a conference on Angika and the community were pretty much excited and emotional to see it on computer.

Actually the locale was not itself created for Angika. Created the same: https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16078

I have just created one page for Angika on Mozilla wiki: https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:anp

I need help here by Dwayne to put it on pootle so that Angika community can start working on it.
Dwayne, could you please add a team for Angika there on pootle/locamotion? btw, the locale issue is now fixed in glibc.
Sorry for the delay, I've initialised the language which you can access here:
http://mozilla.locamotion.org/anp/firefox/

Rajesh if you could give me your Pootle login, or create one if you don't have one already, then I can give you administration rights. With those rights you will be able to assing translation rights to member of your team.

Hey sorry it took me so long. Done, you have full rights and can enable others as needed.
I'm going to close this as INCOMPLETE at this point. Feel free to reopen if that doesn't reflect the actual status.
