Prerequisites:
This test case assumes you already have Sync account setup with at least one client connected to it. We'll call that client A.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a second Firefox client, we'll call this client B. 
2. On the client B, click Set Up Sync... from the menu item
3. In the resulting window, click "I Have an Account"note the 12 digit (3x4 characters) setup code, and close the window with the generated device code.
4. Open client A, go to the Preferences for Sync and click on "Pair a Device" in the resulting dialog, type in the 12 digit code given in client B.

Expected:
The pairing of the device is successfully if the code is entered before the 5 minutes validity.

Actual:
The pairing of the client A is unsuccessful.

That's not how pairing works. The two browsers actually talk to each other as the pairing is established.

It's just like Bluetooth: if you start to pair your headset to your phone, and turn off the phone half-way through, you're going to have a bad time.

This is not a very intuitive behavior. Since the browser stays open and only the window with the code gets closed, one would expect that the service will keep working in the background.

Marking this as an enhancement request since it seems the current behavior is by design.

A mere 6 years later, I am taking this advice from Comment 3 and closing the bug.
