On a (semi-) related note, there was talk a while ago of a <dialog> element. Is
this still on the agenda for XUL1.0?

This was targetted at 1.2alpha... weren't there event-handling issues with
floating windows? What is the status of this?

and why OS: windows 2000?
What happened to this bug? As far as I can tell there is no means for creating a
floating box/window within a XUL app (specifically the browser's content area).
I can create an HTML:DIV element but it will only work in the browser content
area and is subject to the current page's CSS and event handling.
2 questions:
1 - When, if at all, will the bug be addressed?
2 - Is there a workaround to achieve similar functionality?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks! -Chad

Is there any effort being made to make <floatingwindow> work? If not, can
someone state what needs to be done to make it work?
