We need to enable the localization of SUMO in Xhosa [xh].
Ian, this is one of the better places to get the community to help out directly. If it makes more sense to redirect to another language, though, we can also do that.
And, Ian, we'd need "Xhosa" in Xhosa again to set this up, please add that here, utf-8 encoded. Thanks.
Once we have a decision what to do, and possibly the description, this bug will be fixed by Mozilla staff.

"Xhosa" as in the language is called "isiXhosa". Please check against "Zulu", where the equivalent is "isiZulu". If the Zulu version is not "isiZulu" then let me know what it is and I will get in tuoch with the translator

Actually, we are going to start discouraging localizations that can not be maintained, and instead ask for a fallback language. It's usually not a good experience for the user to see a partially translated website, where thing in their language is out of date and other things are in English. Especially for smaller locales it can be a challenge to keep SUMO up to date. So, is there a language that people who speak Xhosa also speak, that we could fall back to?

It would be helpful to know what the parameters are for classing a language as not being maintained. For Xhosa we are working to the 6 weekly browser release cycle and do the web site at the same time. We are doing this because there does not seem to be a regular release cycle for the web site.
With many of our other clients we are given road maps 6 months ahead of time and in one case we even know the exact release dates 1 year in advance. It would help localizers a lot if Mozilla could publish their planned release cycles for the various components ahead of time.
To answer your question Xhosa speakers would fall back to English.

Sorry, Ian, I shouldn't have assumed anything about Xhosa. Here is the message from Rosana, our L10n community manager:

No problem.
In the SUMO context I think it is fine to support the xh-ZA user base in English.

Thanks for the feedback, Ian!
Ricky, let's forward xh-ZA to English
