As of bug 704326, the volume slider is hidden for standalone audio files. It shouldn't be hidden. There's enough room to show it, since the whole content area is dedicated to that audio file.

It would be great if the solution to this bug also allowed in-content <audio> to have a volume slider too (see bug 502892 and bug 649490).

For what it's worth, I'm using <video> at the moment just to offer volume control to users.

Its identified this is still a issue with Beta 27,
Open browser (Beta 27)
File --> Open File (Open / Select audio file)
Click on the volume button available to adjust the volume
Expected : The volume level adjuster should appear right above the volume button
Actual : The volume level adjuster will appear for a moment we click on the volume button and disappears immediately
Note: Please find attached the screen shot for more info

Please file a new bug report for your issue. What you are describing is different than what this bug has addressed. The original regression was that the volume indicator was *never* shown. This was a bug only affecting Firefox 28 and beyond. Note that it's very unlikely this will get fixed in Firefox 27 as it's too late in the cycle.
