Jpeg and jpg images are sometimes displayed with horizontal white lines through them. To reproduce: 1) Goto http://images.google.com 2) Enter image search, e.g. "Clint Eastwood". 3) Notice how several of the images are not rendered correctly and have one or more thin white lines horizontally through them. NOTES: a) This does not occur with NS 4.7, Konqueror or even Netscape 6.1 preview so might there have been a backwards move with 0.9.3? b) Have not tried on anything other than Linux.
Confirmed (sort off). I'm using build 2001080214 (the official 0.9.3) on Mac OS 9. Mu girlfriend noticed it this morning when she's was surfing for fashion photos on http://www.silviatcherassi.com.co/eng/colle/fall01.htm (I swear it wasn't me :-). Click on any of the phots to see a large photo. We often saw a white horizontal line appearing about 1/3 from the top. It was repeatable, as long as it was loaded directly from the web, not from the cache. Refreshing the window, or reloading it cured the display. At that time, our proxyserver was very slow, since the entire telenet.be was hammered pretty bad by the Code Red II worm. We didn't saw at other sites, which made her to conclude that "Silvia's web was broken". But I saw that the white line always happened at the same location, but only in photos of the same size. I tried to repeat it a few minutes ago, but I couldn't do it anymore. It seems to be related to a particular network load. Some kind of network interrupt that always seemed to happen at the same time, which might explain why the line only appeared in those photos, but not in others. This one would be really difficult to repeat, I think. But I swear that I saw them too.
When I think about it, even when I can't see that line, I still see the image load in 3 pieces, probably due to a specific timer that fired (based of elapsed time and/or number of bytes). I saw the white line at the separation of the first and second batch.

Reporter is you internet link particularly slow? I can't reproduce this on my DSL, but it could be that it's triggered by a slow link.
It's a 56K modem, so not that fast :-( I'm seeing this quite a lot, even on NS 6.1. I've just re-checked using my reproduction details and the problem is definitely still happening for me on Moz 0.9.3
I have two hypothesis: a) This works on current builds which is why I never saw it. b) This only happens when the connection is slow. Can you please test with the current nightly and report back? In the meantime, I'm looking for a dupe.
Reporter, could you please verify if your setup is similar to that reported in bug 83289? I'm thinking of filing a dupe, but their problems have to do with scrolling. I would like to know the DPI of your setup, and also the resolution and font sizes. Thanks.
Does look like mine's a dup of 83289 because when goto the URL he cites as a test case, I see exactly the problem I've described - i.e without any need to scroll. For what it's worth, I'm running at 1600x1200. Sorry, I don't know the colour depth.
I can see the same behaviour in this bug as in bug 83289 on 2001-09-07-21 on Linux, so I'm marking this a dupe of that bug. The reporter seamed to agree that it was a dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 83289 ***
