Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20131112160018 Steps to reproduce: 1. Start Firefox beta. 2. Attempt to load a link from an external application like Google Play in Firefox. Does Firefox go ahead and load the tab or just sit there? For me, 100% of the time, it will sit there. 3. From any existing tab, long tap on any link in any open tab. 4. Tap "Open Link in New Tab". Does Firefox load that page? For me, it will load the page, but only sometimes. This is my device: http://promos.asus.com/us/MeMOPad/FHD10/ I do have the Folio Keyboard case, but that might or might not be relevant. Actual results: Firefox created a new tab, but didn't do anything with it other than display the URL in the URL bar. I have to tap the URL bar and then the Go button. Expected results: I expected Firefox to automatically load the page going into a new tab regardless of how it was told to open the page.
OS: Windows 7 → Android
Hardware: x86_64 → x86
I can't reproduce this with Beta on an Intel _phone_. Will, can you provide an ADB log?
Sorry, no entries show up in aLogcat when I search for Firefox. So whatever happened didn't get logged.
QA chaps, do we have an Intel tablet hanging around somewhere on which we can try this? (To find a link in Play, go browsing around the book section -- each review has a link to the right back to its source, e.g., Goodreads.)

I noticed something that might help track it down. If the URL the external app is trying to open already has a tab open, regardless of whether or not the page loaded in that tab, the URL will load normally. If no such tab is open it works as I originally described. I spotted that while running the test case several times. Each time, I was using the same link inside Google Play. Each time, it would fail once and then succeed. After it started succeeding, I realized I hadn't closed the tab from the previous attempt. What do you think? Does that help narrow down the potential causes?
I'm not able to reproduce this on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (x86) running Firefox Beta 26.0. Each link I open from Google Play respectively opens a new tab in Firefox and loads content fine. Will, can you open Firefox Beta and go to about:buildconfig and read me the 'target' under the build-platform heading? I just want to verify that your tablet is running an x86 build and not accidentally running an ARM package that may cause some silly behaviour.
"i386-linux-android" Want the entire page?

No that's fine, thanks. That's the correct target.

I can't reproduce this on a 7" MeMo Pad. Intel Android 4.1.2. Maybe the hardware keyboard is the issue?
We don't have any intel powered tablet; The bug is not reproducible on Asus Transformer tab (Android 4.0.1). The device uses Nvidia Tegra chip.

Well, it seems to be something that NoScript is doing. I was able to try it on the nightly today. It happens with NoScript enabled there. Doesn't happen on Firefox 26 Release with NoScript disabled.
Oh, almost forgot: http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=18911#p66798 is where I'm letting onemen know.
Summary: Firefox won't load external links on Intel tablet → Firefox won't load external links when using NoScript
Aaron, it might still be Intel-specific for all I know.
Hi, Does this issue still reproduce? Thanks,

I don't know. I use Pale Moon now.

Oops. I was thinking of desktop. I believe NoScript has been completely rewritten since I filed this bug.
