tried adding google calendar, and got a 404 because i'd been booted offline instead, could either disable the remote calendar options with notice saying it's because offline or when popup the google option, show an offline message instead of 404.

right now when you try to add an event to a calendar while offline it displays a message: "No Connection. Check your network configuration and try again."
