The mozilla.org team is working with Matej on copy for the Australis interactive tour update experience to test with Aurora users when Australis goes to Aurora on Feb 4, 2014. The due date is Dec 18, 2013.
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Thanks, Jen. Can you or Holly add the most recent mockups or wireframes so I can see all the parts that need copy?
Hi Matej, Please watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X54Ur_Cp0io&feature=youtu.be I also went through the demo on my machine and took screenshots of each step and where copy is needed. See below. First page state: - http://cl.ly/image/1n1h21013V01 Copy from page behind shows through that says something like "Welcome to Firefox!" (maybe something specific to the new Firefox?) It also tells the user that they are up to date, but this message will go away after this step. - http://cl.ly/image/1s0a2e2I2L2w Though not shown in that first screenshot, this doorhanger will be shown during first state until user opts out or enters tour. Steps 1-4 of tour panels (highlight design in chrome/menu panel are not final) 1. http://cl.ly/image/0L2H0e0c383o (New menu panel for efficient browsing) 2. http://cl.ly/image/3O3H443d2P14 (Easier way to customize your browser) 3. http://cl.ly/image/2c2G3Y0R1a1y (Better Bookmarking) 4. http://cl.ly/image/180H2q3e0J2y (Beautiful browsing starts now!) At any point in the tour, the user can opt out and land in webpage content behind. We will also need copy for the post-tour web page, which may be a separate task from this bug.
Update: We would like to make the final state of this tour and its next step more apparent. Michael has come up with a design for the final step that we would like to combine with the current final step. As discussed in an email thread, could you come up with copy for the 4th step that talks about beautiful browsing, but also has some confirmation messaging + the button, Current step 4: http://cl.ly/image/180H2q3e0J2y New final step design that was just added: http://cl.ly/image/0L1C0F0C1J35
* please disregard the "link 1" and "link 2" in the template. We will only have 1 CTA on this panel, the green button.
Hi all, as you'll see from the below copy, I decided to include some overlap between the tour copy and the site copy, but each still work on its own. This is treated a little differently and expands on the new functions and features. The main departure from the mockup is the door hanger copy. Since the welcome message will be featured so prominently from the What's New page, it didn't feel right to repeat it. Instead, this flows naturally from that copy. Let me know if you have any questions. [TOUR] [WELCOME HANGER] Take the tour It all starts with our completely redesigned Firefox menu. I just realized the Michaels, Maslaney and Verdi, weren't on this bug, so I added them. Anyone else who should be on here?
Capturing the latest here. Link to demo tour: https://www-demo3.allizom.org/en-US/firefox/29.0a2/whatsnew/ New copy points: 1. Introducing the Menu 2. Customize 3. Bookmarks 4. Add-Ons

Add-ons info from Laura: Add-on - Easy access to add-ons and the other most popular features all in one spot (may have used that as your mentioned). Other Good Stuff: Make Firefox your own by adding add-ons, features that extend what Firefox can do Get started, and choose from thousands of extra features and styles to make Firefox your own Now even your favorite add-ons can also live in your Menu for easier access. (since this is advanced maybe position this as the third bullet as a “pro tip”)

Copy looks great, Matej. Can you confirm that you still want the "Take the Tour" headline in the doorhanger? (there is a headline + supportive text + button/link text) doorhanger screenshot - http://cl.ly/image/0Y2p0k1d1C1A
(In reply to Holly Habstritt [:Habber] from comment #11) > Copy looks great, Matej. > > Can you confirm that you still want the "Take the Tour" headline in the > doorhanger? (there is a headline + supportive text + button/link text) > > doorhanger screenshot - > http://cl.ly/image/0Y2p0k1d1C1A The idea was to remove the headline and just go with a more direct CTA.
Updating the door hangar text to include a title: [DOORHANGER] See what's changed It starts with the completely redesigned menu. Let's go »
Hi Flod- We won't be localizing this tour for Aurora or Beta, but this is a good preview of what we will need to localize for General Audience (April 29). You can see the full experience now in Nightly and in Aurora on Friday. https://www-demo3.allizom.org/en-US/firefox/29.0a2/whatsnew/ Thx, Jen
Thanks Jen, we'll probably start some early tests with Pascal to ensure that everything works fine on the l10n side. For sure we'll need a longer time to get it localized than the usual 2 weeks, since we need to target Firefox localizations, and some teams are not very reactive.
Flod - Great! Let us know if you have any questions once you start testing. Alex Gibson is the developer. Mike and I are looking at schedules on Friday and intend to give 4-6 week for L10N for April 29.
Matej, is it safe to close this bug as resolved and copy final?
(In reply to Mike Alexis [:malexis] from comment #17) > Matej, is it safe to close this bug as resolved and copy final? We'll need to update this copy eventually once we have the new positioning all figured out. Should that happen in this bug or should we open a new one in the future?
Let's open a new bug for that and use this one specifically for the Australis Aurora tour launch this week.
We will move forward with 2 versions of the tour copy: 1. feature driven (here are the new features and here is how you use them) vs 2. benefit driven (here is why they are new and what they do for you) With the goal of seeing which version has a higher tour completion rate, hypothesizing that a better educated user will generate more usage hours (despite our inability to fully test this). We are aiming for final copy on March 5, to be ready for Beta on March 18, analyze results, and begin localization of final text April 1 for General Audience release on April 29.
