RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 875963

People

(Reporter: walter, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131201175730

Steps to reproduce:

On the ZTE Open, on any text input, pressing the shift key results in a short but visible lag before anything happens (ie. before the new keyboard appears).

Actual results:

A sub-second wait (maybe ~100ms?) before the new (caps-enabled or disabled) keyboard appears. User impression is 'this system is slow and painful'. :(

Expected results:

New (caps-enabled or disabled) keyboard appears instantly! User impression is 'this system is fast and responsive'! :)

Given how responsive, say, dragging the home screen is, it strikes me that there must be some suboptimal code in here. I guess there must be some way to optimize, for example by pre-caching the other keyboard mode to allow flipping between them more rapidly?
Fixed in bug 875963.
