Details

Currently when the page specifies a content type unrecognized by Mozilla, you
can choose to save it to disk or to view it with an external application.

What you cannot do, however, is the simplest possible option: view it in a
Mozilla window ("inline"). It often happens that I simply want to *see* a file,
such as ChangeLog, that happens to be mislabeled as "application/octet-stream"
simply because it does not have a recognizable extension.

Please note that Mozilla already supports the reverse: if clicking on a link
would make the file display inline, pressing shift while clicking the link will
offer a "save" window. I would really appreciate if the reverse were possible,
i.e. if there were an option to show inline what would normally only be possible
to save or view externally.

Such an option could fit in the current "run application"/save dialog, but if
you think it would be too confusing for a "casual" user, it could be added under
advanced options.
yes i want this, but it might already be requested..
