Hi,
under all blog.mozilla.org/press (plus locales), when uploading an image (NOT larger than file size limit of 25 MB) we get an "HTTP Error" and the image does not appear. We are planning to push the EOY press graphic out today at 7am PT and cannot upload the graphics.
I have updated the Flash player 11 today, this is the first time I am having this issue. Also, it does not work with Flash 10, nor with Flash deinstalled (per Wordpress support page a common issue). Tried on several machines today and have the same problem.
Coudl you please help?
Thanks,
Valerie

Also, it seems that Wordpress has release a new version (at least the UI looks different today than last week), now perhaps this is why there are issues. I have attached the graphic that we want to upload (in various versions and languages), in case this helps to test.

I'm not sure what could be causing this but I was able to successfully upload the image using the standard browser uploader, rather than the flash one, so try that (I don't have access to the German press blog so I can't upload it there).
With the flash uploader, it seems like the actual file transfer works but it then fails on some final processing step, and the generic "HTTP error" isn't the least bit helpful.

Hi Craig - I have the browser uploader too and it doesn't work either, I get a different Error message (see screenshot I attached).

I have shared a Dropbox folder (Mozilla 2013) with you, Craig and Shannon. These are the graphics that need to be hosted somehwhere under blog.mozilla.org ideally /press - we can take the links from there to embed them in the local press centers. I cannot upload anything anymore, neither to the main Mozilla Blog nor to /press or any locales, so it would be great if you, Craig, could upload them anywhere really today. We are planning to do outreach tomorrow mornign EU time, now that our day is over.
I cannot attach them all to the bug as a zip due to the file size limit in Bugzilla, but could also try to upload them one by one here if that helps or if you cannot access the folder, Craig?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Craig, I also added you (craigcook@gmail.com) as Admin to all local Press Centers (DE, UK, FR, IT, ES, PL) in case you want to upload them there directly. Will probably make it easier for us to embed the files in the local media galleries as thumbnails.

Only uploading RGB, the CMYKs are too big for Bugzilla. Having the RGBs up would be a start, having both CMYK and RGB up for all languages, would be awesome! :)

That's my old LDAP account from my contractor days and I've long since lost its password. Can you add my ccook at mozilla.com account instead?
Still no idea why uploads aren't working for you and we should investigate that further, but I can work on uploading all of these today, assuming it continues to work from my end.

So after repeatedly banging my head most of the evening, trying to figure out why I was able to upload other files but not these, I finally figured it out. It isn't the file size or the format causing problems, it's the actual pixel dimensions. It seems there's a maximum of around 14,200 pixels beyond which the scripts that process images server-side (to generate thumbnails and such) simply refuse to handle it.
The 2013 infographic is 3225 by 14405 pixels, just a wee bit taller than acceptable. If I shrink it just enough to get the height below that magic 14200px threshold, uploading works just fine. It's still high resolution and suitable for printing, it's just a little smaller.
I can work on resizing and uploading the images to all the various press centers first thing in the morning.

Thanks a million Craig for finding out what's causing the issue - we have resized the images with our designer and will upload them now :)! THANKS!
