using 7/9 build of apprunner on Mac

1) launch apprunner
2) launch editor

it takes about 5 minutes for it to come up.

this is a regression...never had this problem before

This is serious M8 material. I'm looking at it.

changing summary....several minutes actually...
actually, it doesn't come up at all..I've waited over 20 minutes now...

OK, this is just a focus problem. The mac event handler throws away the event if
there is no focussed widget.

Somehow, we'll have to figure out how to ensure that such focus badness never
happens.
