Hi!
Since a short time it is finally possible to translate Instantbird completely, including messages from libpurple and the protocols. This was the missing piece that prevented localization before. (See http://blog.instantbird.org/t3-translations.html for the blog posting on this topic).
We'd be happy if you'd like to do this translation, we have set up a system to support translators in their work. Have a look at the following page to see how it's done:

In bug 953769 (bio 326) a mercurial repository was created for the Russian locale. If you are interested in helping with the translation, don't hesitate to contact the person who is now responsible for it so that you can coordinate your work.
