*** Original post on bio 669 as attmnt 511 by mansonigor AT gmail.com at 2011-01-29 14:04:00 UTC *** Such ability is present in Firefox 4 beta 10(watch screenshot) Options->Advanced->General->use HW acceleration if possible(or something like this) According to about:support this option changes: gfx.direct2d.disabled from false to true layers.acceleration.disabled from false to true This is very usefull because hw acceleration is new feature and can make troubles for users.
*** Original post on bio 669 at 2011-01-29 15:26:23 UTC *** Confirming, this might be wanted or nice to have for 0.3?

*** Original post on bio 669 at 2011-02-11 14:56:05 UTC *** Just so that we don't forget, it was suggested on IRC that we may want to disable it by default: 23:15:11 <Mook> flo: would it be useful to consider disabling hardware accel (i.e. prefed off by default) for 0.3 if it's having too many problems? unlike firefox, instantbird probably doesn't need it just yet... nobody does benchmarks ;)
Summary: Add ability for disabling hw acceleration in Preferences → Add ability for disabling hardware acceleration in Preferences
Do we still think this is a problem? I suspect that almost four years later most of the graphic acceleration issues have been worked out.
I don't think this is relevant anymore, or we would have heard more recent complaints.
