Currently the account display does not distinguish between accounts that will reconnect when changing from "Offline" to any connected status and which will still be disconnected because they weren't connected before. Both sorts are shown with the grey "Offline"-icon.

Maybe we should change this.

I agree that as a user, this annoys me. If we display them differently, we should not only provide the information, but also a way to change which accounts will be reconnected automatically.

I have no idea of how this could look in the UI, so suggestions for that are very welcome.

Not that it's a UI suggestion, but perhaps we could call the accounts that won't be set to available as "Disabled" as opposed to "Offline"?

So the current "Not Connected" would be changed into either "Offline" or "Disabled", and while offline the "Connect"/"Disconnect" buttons would be turned into "Enable/Disable"? That sounds possible. We would need to change a bit the wording in the offline notification bar to make this very clear.

While "Offline", the "Connection"/"Disconnect" buttons would turn into "Enable"/"Disable" for an account that is "Disabled" (they would still be "Connect"/"Disconnect" for an "Enabled" account).

But yes there would essentially be two separate sets of states Disabled/Enabled" and Disconnected/Connected. Just an idea! :)

Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
