I thought it would be unique and nice if Instabird was able to do a combined contact window and conversation window that can be turned on and off the same way you can in skype. I do not know if it can be done using this setup but it would be convenient.

Mook started working on an extension for this [1] and flo also has the start of an extension for this [2]. I think this is necessary in order to get some people to switch away from using programs like ChatZilla.

Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
