957181 - Trying to login to change email FF will not accept password cannot reset as email address changed

Steps to reproduce:

My hotmail email account has been breached and shutdown so need to update new email address in Firefox browser. The login rejects my password and I cannot reset it as the email address in my account is blocked

The steps to reproduce the problem are unclear to me. Where do you need to update "in Firefox"? Please provide steps to reproduce that anybody else could follow. Thanks in advance!

I need to update to a new email address in my Firefox account as my existing email has been accessed by someone else and Microsoft will not unblock it.

1. When I try to log into my account by entering my username and password I get a message: 

'Please enter a correct username and password. Note that both fields are case-sensitive.'

2. When I click on link to reset password I get a message:  

'Warning: Accounts created before December 2010 may have issues logging in. Please reset your password below.

Forgotten your password? Enter your email address below, and we'll send you instructions for setting a new one.'

Obviously I cannot use old email as it is blocked and my account does not use the new email address.

3. The same problem exists if I try to reset my user name.

Is this any clearer?

Do I have to forget my old account and create a new one with the new email address?

Ian, are you having a problem changing the e-mail address or password stored in your Firefox's password manager for autocompletion?

Sorry, I missed your question:

Your problem has nothing to do with Firefox.  Firefox is not Hotmail or Microsoft.  All Firefox can do is help you enter an e-mail address into a field at a web page.
