The intention of this pref is to allow disabling of the awesometab's LIST calls. To work better, it should ideally be implemented so that it
1) still allows manual /list commands
2) can be account-specific (to disable list result inclusion only for a specific account, e.g. where users are kicked when they /list).

That's obviously needed, but I thought unbreaking /list was the point of bug 959365.

I think we discussed this a while ago (when adding the pref) and decided unless some actual use case was found, we didn't need to make it account specific. And account specific hidden prefs are annoying because they can't have default values in about:config. We added this pref mostly as a safety net; not as something we expect people to actually use.

1) is fixed by bug 959365. I'll keep this bug open in case 2) turns out to be required.
Summary: irc.automaticList pref needs improvement → Add a hidden pref to disable automatic LIST for specific accounts only
I'd probably prefer the solution in bug 955595.
I'm going to close this as WONTFIX. Let's not add account specific prefs unless there's some dire need for it.
