async-video is one of the clearest wins of OMTC, and it is not specifically designed for a backend or platform. Last time I tried async-video on windows, it was triggering an assertion because some IPDL stuff was called from the wrong thread. It may be a low hanging fruit so it's worth looking into at least identifying the problem, and if it is not complicated, just fix it and enable it. It is already enabled by default on every other platform, including with the basic backend.
Gavin, can you give us an idea of the importance of async video on Windows from your point of view?
I don't really know how to answer that question in isolation, I'm missing far too much context about what this feature is. How big of an improvement is it, and in which cases? At a high level, having less-janky video is rather important ("watching videos" is a big secondary browser use case), but in the near term most videos will be Flash.
AsyncVideo was enabled along with OMTC on Windows
