Details
Exchange Server 5.5 connecting using IMAP for retrieval, LDAP for directory and
SMTP for transmission.
User names in LDAP are Last, First.
ie "Last, First" <First.Last@mydomain.com>
The Exchange server sends an unknown recipient reply to the sender but still
sends the correct message recipient!
The error message to sender is as follows
To: Last; First
Subject: test
Sent: Fri, 24 Aug 2001 08:50:32 +1000
did not reach the following recipient(s):
Last on Fri, 24 Aug 2001 08:53:46 +1000
The recipient name is not recognized
The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=us;a=
;p=nrg;l=GPSMAIL0108232253N1Z15HY5
MSEXCH:IMS:NRG:GPS:GPSMAIL 0 (000C05A6) Unknown Recipient
Note that the , (comma) is replaced with a ; (semicolon)in the To field.
Netscape 4.7x does not show this characteristic and names that do not have the
comma work fine.

What build id are you using?
In a new message/compose window how is the recipient's email address chosen?
Do you select the Address button and choose the email address or in the address
area do you take advantage of the autocomplete feature where you start typing
and it automatically displays addresses that match what you have typed?

I'm using 0.92 & 0.93, both have the same problem. It started doing it after
several days of use on 0.92 so I upgraded to 0.93 to see if that fixed it.
I also deleted my .mozilla directory to see if that fixed it (Didn't).
I know that it sounds like an intermittent problem but it does it every time
now. Does Mozilla store mail information in another location? After deleting
~/.mozilla a lot of mail settings were still remembered.
I use the fabulous autocomplete feature which pulls the addresses from the
Exchange LDAP server.
The names with Last, First seem to be the ones that Exchange barfs on.
I just tried the Address window to get it. It doesn't show the LDAP directory as
an option at all?
Is there any debug mode in Moz that shows the SMTP traffic with the Exchange
server. I have a little experience with sendmail and SMTP protocol. I suppose I
could sniff the network if necessary.
