The GIF's used for the UI are bigger (bytewise) than they need to be.
This is mostly due to the fact that the files are made with more colors than
they actually use.
Reducing the bytesize of theese files should save just a tiny bit of memmory and
diskspace.
I posted this bug , because I could optimize the files , and post a patch and
instruction how do this, myself.
(I'm not sure if this cuounts as a RFE or a performancebug .. i'm guessing the
latter.)

confirming this bug.
Reporter, Please attach a Zip file of the optimized Gif files. (With directory
structure if possible.) Then, the developers should be able to simply replace
the files as needed.
