Just seen this on my Surface tablet when I wanted to upgrade to the latest version of Nightly. After downloading the update it has been taken a long time to apply the update. So I quit Firefox before the update was done. A couple seconds later I restarted Firefox and it failed because it was still open? At least I got this message. I tried again about 5s later and now it worked. I have the latest version but I still have the .bak folder with the application backup around. It has not been deleted from disk.
