This bug covers the copy for the registration page. This is the copy that will be found above the form where users register to gain access to protected content. This is not the legal click thru.

Suggested text & notes from Stacy are below. Jishnu can you draft/approve and add the final copy to this bug. I can then take this copy and add to the website. Apologies if this is already tracked somewhere but I did not see a bug or link from the item in the matrix.

From Email:

Sample Text:
"By creating an account, you'll have access to [insert relevant text]. We'll use your contact information to keep you informed about [insert relevant text]."

Here are a couple other things that might help:

Goal of providing a contextual notice: Give users information at the point of data collection, so they can make an informed decision about whether they want to provide their personal information. Set expectations about how the data will be used. The goal of the wording is to provide enough information so users know what they're providing their data for, but make it broad enough so that it's practical. (For example, if you decide you want to send them a related survey in the future or you decide you want to invite them to the same event next year, is your description of data use broad enough to cover that?). At a minimum, a contextual notice should give users an idea of what you're doing with the personal data you're collecting. What is being collected is usually already clear in the data collection fields, so a more detailed contextual notice should inform users how their personal info will be used, how it is stored, how it is shared/accessed, and what users' rights are with respect to the data. Generally 2-4 key points, with a link to any relevant privacy policies in case the user wants more information. How much detail you need to provide depends on the context (ex: consumer vs. B2B) and the sensitivity of the data.

Benchmarking: (how others provide contextual notice):

I've been collecting Mozilla contextual notices (as I run across them) here. I'll grant you access in case they're helpful. They are in the tab called "contextual notices". https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgxmiM7c95HhdGluSmY0dTRXODBqQTgtcFhRdWRGZEE&usp=drive_web#gid=1

Here is my suggestion for the text. Marketing copy is not my strong point but I think this at least contains the elements we need.
