From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:0.9.1+)Gecko/20010619
BuildID: 2001082703

Starting within the past week, I've noticed that when on Chatzilla often I will
get disconnected from the server, but Chatzilla gives no indication that
anything is wrong.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Chatzilla. (I use irc.mozilla.org)
2.Let it sit in a channel for a while
3.Try typing something
3.Try joining another channel

Actual Results: After a while, the new messages stop appearing. The Moznet
tab doesn't show that I was disconnected. When I type something, it appears in
the channel fine, but nobody answers. Attempting to join a new channel does
nothing.

Expected Results: Chatzilla stays connected or if disconnected, it notifies the
user of this.

It's almost like if Chatzilla has a ping timeout, it's not relaying this on to
the user. (and pretending like everything's fine). I would often get ping
timeouts in the past, but I don't see this error anymore.
Yes, this does appear to be a ping timeout problem.
After having this problem happen to me today, I re-joined the channel and found
out the reason for the disconnect:

12:02.35 [GMT+10:00] *** Quit: WD (Ping timeout: 180 seconds)

Chatzilla gave no indication to me that I had a ping timeout.
Summary: Chatzilla gets disconnected w/o indicating anything is wrong → Chatzilla gets disconnected w/o indicating anything is wrong - Ping Timeout
What's up with your build id? The useragent says 20010619, but the bug helper
says you've got 20010827. Is this a recent, cleanly installed nightly?

Sorry.. I have a fake UA due to bug 76485
I forgot to delete that line from my bug report.

I'm using 2001082703
I did not experience the "unnoticed" disconnection, but even in the normal case
a disconnection would only be shown in the server window and not in the channel
windows. It would be great to show the disconnected message in the channel
windows as well.
In my case, it indicated no problem in the server window either. It indicated
that I was still connected, but in actuality I had been disconnected by a ping
timeout.
Not sure if we can totally fix this. If you lose the connection in a sneaky
way, like your ppp connection drops out, we don't get any notification.
Sometimes sending text will trigger a network error, so a proactive ping has
been added to 0.8.5. Also, disconnect errors are now broadcast to all views
that are related to the network.

One thing that I've noticed lately is this:

When Chatzilla goes silent for a while and no longer seems to be responding, if
I close up the chatzilla window all the messages that have been received are all
scrolled across the screen before CZ closes. It's as if the messages are
buffered up or something. I'm not sure if this is a different bug, though.
The chatzilla 0.8.5 branch has landed, if you believe this bug is not actually
fixed, and you are sure you are running chatzilla 0.8.5-rc1, please reopen the
bug for further consideration.

Re-opening
With the latest Chatzilla, I can have CZ open alongside mIRC.
Chatzilla will get disconnected within a period of 10 seconds to 10 minutes
mIRC will stay connected fine.

Chatzilla will not give any indication that it's disconnected, but if I look on
mIRC, I'll see that the Chatzilla user is no longer there, with a message like:
*** WD_CZ has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 180 seconds)

Are you still seeing this? I haven't seen it for a long time.
OS: Windows ME → All

I haven't seen this in a long time. I'm not running WinMe anymore, but I don't
see how that would make any difference.
