I like using the regular menu bar at the top of the window/screen, so I turned it back on after the Australis rollout. (Something that was not obvious to me was an option at first.) However, now the menu bar is artificially attached to the Aurora window instead of integrated with the OS menu bar like every other application. This is particular obvious when the window is maximized, as the two menu bars are right next to each other. I am running Aurora 29 on Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity. This did not happen with Aurora 28. (This is an Australis regression.)
Just for clarity's sake, Firefox _never_ supported Unity's global menu bar - at least, not stock Firefox. Chris, I notice on https://launchpad.net/globalmenu-extension that the extension is no longer being actively supported since Fx 21. If that's the case, how has Firefox been working with the global menubar since then?

Yeah, I abandoned that addon a long time ago because it became too difficult to provide this functionality as an addon. We've been shipping a patch ever since, but this has been beginning to rot quite a bit since I'm now working full time on writing our own webview, and I've been unable to find anybody to replace me. It's stopped working entirely now :/

Are these steps accurate? Steps: - Click the "hamburger" - Click "Customize" - Click "Show/Hide Toolbars" - Pick "Menu Bar" Result: An empty gray "Menu Bar" appears then disappears when "Exit Customize". Expected result: The "Menu Bar" remains on the Firefox window. If this the bug? If so I can reproduce it on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 ID:20140201061308 CSet: Undefined obtained from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa

Nope. Your expected result is my actual (unexpected) result: Previously, the Firefox menu bar integrated into the Unity menu bar (akin to the OS X menu bar), which runs across the entire top of the screen. Now, the Firefox menu bar is attached to the Firefox window, and the menu options are visible at all times. (Rightly or wrongly, the actual menu options in the Unity menu bar only appear when the cursor enters the menu bar area; otherwise, it displays the title of the window.)

(In reply to Dão Gottwald [:dao] from comment #5) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 619899 *** The thing is, though: This was supported at one point without using an add-on.
Certainly not with builds published by Mozilla.
