Sadly, DevTools are really confusing to non-developers[1]. But of course, we still want to encourage and help people create for the web.
So why don't we show a clarifying tooltip[2], when the user opens the developer tools for the very first time? This might avoid confusion while it's still not raising any annoying barriers to developers.
