Moving the tests in toolkit/mozapps/extensions/test/browser to manifests in bug 948801 required a hacky workaround, because the same set of tests want to get run in two different configurations. Once we actually switch the Mochitest harness to use the manifests as input we should be able to do this in a smarter way, by simply making the second manifest have an extra key, exposing the manifest data to the tests, and enabling the variant behavior based on that.
