STR: 1. Load the attachment. 2. Notice that you can't click the OK button of the alert, or do other interactions with Firefox's UI. After a while -- maybe 30 seconds? -- events are processed again.

Possibly not the same issue but similar. Event loop handling in Cocoa is very odd comparing to other platforms.

Please try my "radical simplification" patch from bug 959281 (attachment 8366280 [details] [diff] [review]), and let me know if it fixes this bug.
