Open the history panel from the icon and right click on an entry. The page is opened, replacing the current page.
From the history menu, this does not happen.

Symptom has disappeared. I have no explanation, but observe that is seems somehow tied to the slow right click which also disappeared.

I can reproduce this too, the trick being you have to click an actual history item, and not one of the items under "restore closed tabs" / "restore closed windows" in the menu. This happens both when History is in the menupanel (subview) and as a navbar button.

I just tried this on Windows on Firefox nightly 60.0, and right-click opens the context menu.
On Mac, right-click activates the menu item, but does that for any menu item.
Therefore, I think this is now working as expected.
