Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140218135856
Expected results:
Provide a method to manually be able to put certain open tabs in a restore session container. The only way one can do this currently is if they intentionally crash firefox. It would be useful to have the option of doing this manually, because sometimes one has about 50 open tabs that they will need in the future, but for the moment those tabs significantly reduce the performance of the firefox.

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Do you want to be able to decide to save some tabs and not others?

That sounds like you want to hibernate tabs. This would be the responsibility of an add-on. You could also create bookmarks as this is basically about saving tabs to read them later.
about:sessionrestore is definitely not the place for this, its sole purpose is to aid with crash recovery.
