Steps to Reproduce
1. Open contacts
2. Tap quickly on a letter in the index scroll bar
Expected Results
See the grey box with the letter that has just been tapped.
Actual Results
See only an empty grey box.

Note, there were around 500 contacts in the list.

Probably the letter wasn't load yet. This is something that Ben Kelly is putting a lot of effort here.
Ben do you think we can mark this as duplicate of the bug you are working on?

Yes, this is a dupe of bug 865747. Its a long standing issue and I'm not sure we will solve it until we implement DataStore in contacts. Is possible the active work in bug 975680 will have to take this on, but its not a priority there.
(And yes, if you hit a letter which you don't have any contacts for you don't scroll. I'll always found that confusing UX as I would expect it to take me to the nearest contact.)
