Any reason not to make https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/marketplace android compatible?

Because it's a packaged app. And we have not enabled the `android-packaged` (nor `desktop-packaged`) waffle flags in production.

I marked this dependent on the android improvement bug - hopefully we roll that all into the same effort in the next few weeks.

I was told that we didn't want to market Marketplace as an app on Android. I think it was because how hard it was to get an app like Marketplace onto Google play. Please let me know if the scope has changed, so that I can reassess our testing efforts.

I'm not sure what y'all are saying, but https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/marketplace should not be marketed anywhere ever.

The idea would be to be able to have the marketplace icon on your android device. Why wouldn't we want that?

I thought her rumours of having Marketplace bundled with Firefox for Android - is that not a possibility anymore?

I'm not sure, maybe, but that wouldn't stop us from doing this, right? Like, is there a technical reason not to allow this?

Marking as P5 enhancement for now, since the scope is unclear and there are unmet blockers. Feel free to adjust as you feel is appropriate.

The marketplace can be made a packaged Android app with no issues now. All we've got to do is flip the switch and it will go through the APK Factory and on to the device. In fact I just flipped that switch on -dev and stage.
Let's see if it installs a packaged app, which is really a test of the APK Factory.

I managed to install the stage app on an Asus Transformer tablet (Android) but when I tried to open the installed app a blank white page is displayed and the app is never opened.

Not sure if it's related but the white screen sounds similar to bug 1029674

Just installed Marketplace production app from https://marketplace.firefox.com/app/marketplace and it opens on my Nexus 5 but doesn't get passed the splash screen.

What happens when you load https://marketplace.firefox.com/ from the browser?
