Details
From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.3) Gecko/20010801 BuildID: 2001080110 Mozilla will not let me send a mail message with an attached file that resides on a Windows SMB share. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Fill out the To:, Subject:, and body of a new mail message. 2. Attach a file located on a network share (such as \\Pinocchio\dedodedo\art\precious.jpg). 3. Click Send. Actual Results: Alert box "Sending of message failed" appears twice. Expected Results: The message is sent. Workaround: Every time I got the error, I was able to send the message normally by first copying the file to a local drive.

The problem is the handling of UNC paths as noted in bug 55591. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 55591 ***
