Attached image Screenshot
Device: HTC Desire HD
OS: Android 2.3
Build: Aurora 30.0a2 (20/03)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pentagon_News_Sample.ogg (http://bit.ly/1ij5bnC)
2. Tap the play sign

Actual results:
- There is no play sign and the video can't be played - a thumbnail image is displayed in the place of the video

Expected results:
- the video should have a play button displayed and tapping it should start the video.

Note:
- See attached screenshot
- This is *not reproducing* on tablets. (reproduced on Nexus 4, Lg Optimus 4x etc. - Android 4+ )
- tapping the link under the video will open the video in a pop up and will be played.

Summary: Can't play an ogg file from mobile → Wikipedia - Unable to interact with the video media container
AFAICT, all mobile browsers are missing the script[1] needed to wire up the video pop-up player. It just isn't served to the mobile site.

Given that no mobile browser I tested (Chrome Mobile, iOS Safari, Opera Mobile) is served this script, I'm guessing that wikipedia has decided that clicking the video link (and playing the video via the system player) is good enough.

Closing as invalid, but please reopen if you find I'm mistaken.

Mike, I am not sure If you read that it works fine on Firefox for Android on tablets - perfectly even.

And I can tap the image - it won't open a thing for me - in the description I stated that the example had a link of the video below the image (for every file in wiki is the same) and I mentioned I tapped it so you guys understand that the video works if opened.

So,in a few words - there is an image - I tap it - nothing happens - no way to see the video if there is not other link in the page separately.

This is not reproducing on tablets - where there is a play button.

Should we reopen it or it is still a Wiki decision?

Hi Ioana,

I did read that part. The difference here is that Wikipedia is serving tablets the desktop site (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pentagon_News_Sample.ogg), while mobile browsers are served the mobile site (http://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pentagon_News_Sample.ogg -- note the m). Since tablets get the desktop site, they also get the script that sets up the video player.
