caret jumps up when deleting an empty line

using 7/2 build of netscape

1) launch netscape
2) launch mail compose
3) insert line of text on first line
4) hit two carriage returns
5) insert another line of text
6) hit backspace to delete the last line

now the caret is below the first line

7) now start typing some text.

the text jumps down below, it should not, it should stay on the
line where your caret was.

only happens in mail compose though.


look what happens to the caret after you backspace
the entire second line.

easy to reproduce, handing over to joe and setting to 1.0

This bug is actually slightly different than reported. If you have an empty line
(containing only the carriage return), and you press backspace on the next line,
the caret jumps up to the line before the empty line, but the insertion point
remains where it should be. So, when you press enter or type text, the text
inserts where the insertion point is (i.e., at the empty line), but the caret
originally displayed itself at the end of the previous line.

Also upping priority.

so far unable to reproduce.  i'll see a fertility specialist.  in the meantime,
can you provide details about your mail settings?  Is this html reply, or
plaintext reply?
