RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 80293

I find popup windows grabbing focus away from the keybord to be a royal pain in
the but with the additional problem that if a person is typing the next key
stroke clears the message so we don't get to see it anyway.

Any message that only offers one selcetion is information only and there is
NOTHING that the user can do about it. Therefore it is not necessary to ask him
if it ok? What if it is _not_ ok? Do we turn the computer off?

Here is an example. blah.doubleclick.com could not be found. ok?

The reason it can not be found from my system is because I firewalled them. I
_don't want_ their bloody ads. I don't want to click the "ok?" popup either.

Here is a possible solution. If you had a parent consol available like you do
in a unix environment - then you don't need a popup. You just write the message
to the consol and keep on going. If the user wishes to look at the consol its
up to them.

If you were to build a window dedicated to messages - including debug messages -
then the popup can be eliminated. The code to do this should not be very
dificult but I have not looked at the code base. If I have time later on I may
have a look and attempt to add this feature.

What is the delopment environment for mozilla? I run Borland C++ professional
builder on NT and Gnu C++ on Linux.

http://mozilla.org/build/ has detailed build instructions

This bug is covered, imo, by:

bug 28586 -- [RFE] Should use error page, not dialog, for inaccessible pages
             (placeholder)
bug 65521 -- [linux] modal dialogs should only freeze parent window (not all
             windows)
Severity: minor → enhancement
I agree with ksosez.

I also think the best solution to the "blah.doubleclick.com could not be found"
problem is bug 28586, but the solution Terrell suggested sounds more like bug
80293 ([RFE] Need network errors to go to non-blocking list or display).
