This should allow the removal of several messageboxes

Hi Philipp, I'd like to move away from messageboxes for these error conditions. What do you think of doing something like in these screenshots? There are a couple of more error conditions such as invalid directory as well.

This generally looks good to me.
The thing I'm a little concerned about is what would happen if one of these errors get thrown when the user is not already on the advanced options screen. In this case he would be confronted with lots of options that don't have anything to do with the problem at hand.

Is that something that could happen?

It definitely is and we currently show a messagebox with text for the issue before displaying the options page. I was thinking that we could either continue to show a messagebox for the issue or style more of the UI for the issue. Another thing I was thinking we could do is display a small icon as well off to the side.

Do you have a preference?

Here's another approach to this.
Since in this case only the destination folder is relevant information, I removed all other options from the screen. Instead, we can use that space to give the user some tips on what he can do to resolve the situation. The link behind »Disk Cleanup« would lead to this page: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup#delete-files-using-disk-cleanup=windows-8

I know that this will probably be more effort to implement, but I also think that it is more useful to the user.

What do you think?

It's unlikely that I will get to work on this in the next two weeks, so unassigning myself for now.

This UI has changed, and the placement of these is no longer available. So messageboxes remain the vehicle for this kind of information barring a UI overhaul.
