+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #949202 +++

A workaround was made in Gaia to always give other apps a File-backed blob from the Gallery app.
I'm going to dupe this over to the more-active current bug on this problem.  It is the latest in a chain of bugs, so follow the 'depends on' links or what not if you want to get to the bug from the same era as this one.
