People

(Reporter: john, Unassigned)

Details

(Whiteboard: [seamonkey-2.25-affected])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 SeaMonkey/2.25 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140318183706

Steps to reproduce:

This feature is not currently available.

Actual results:

N/A

Expected results:

Open a new tab with the same URL as the current one.
Severity: normal → enhancement
Component: General → Tabbed Browser
(Notwithstanding the RFE...)

Depending /how/ you wanted to do it, you /can/ do this.

Ctrl+Enter on the URL bar will duplicate the current tab in the same window.

You could see if the "Duplicate This Tab" extension works ?

Duplicate This Tab extension is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you!
I would like to see this in tab context menu like Chrome, or a keyboard shortcut maybe...?

I often want to keep the current tab, and navigate back/forward in the history in another. One of the few things I still miss from Chrome.
I believe that for consistency's sake both this bug and bug 990586 (duplicate tab to new window) should be handled or not handled the same way, and, if handled, by the same patch or set of patches, either leaving them both to extensions like Duplicate This Tab, keyconfig, Buttons, etc., or integrating the full capabilities of Duplicate This Tab into mainstream SeaMonkey, which of course would require a lot more manpower from the SeaMonkey volunteers (all SeaMonkey people are volunteers).

See also bug 990586 comment #2 and 3.
