This would appear to be a duplicate of bug 977668
I could not see what causes the freezing; for me it seems to appear random. Sometimes it works, in other cases it freezes immediately after the first few characters written. (In the other bugs mentioned, there is a scheme described , what i could not reproduce).
Same Problem Firefox 28, 29 beta, 30 aurora. Somebody said here http://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=107658&p=908995#p908919, the error did not exist in version 31(exist this version???).
It may be best to continue in bug 977668. Note also there is a report of the problem in Nightly on the support forum https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/991572?page=2#answer-552234
I can see it working fine for me in 29.0, 30.0 and 31.0 builds
