User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140314220517
Steps to reproduce:
Downloaded instantbird 1.6x from nightly builds, clean one.
Made an irc account, logged in, registered my nickname.
Then disconnected my wifi and reconnected it again.
Actual results:
Nagging behaviour which i cannot find a way to turn off, since my name is registered at the irc server, nickserv messaged me and opened a new window. I don't want im to bother me with services messages.
If my name is not authorized Nickserv messages me on new window or opens new window if theres none and messages me that i need to authorize, if i'm authorized it messages me that i'm already authorized.
Also that happens along with sound events on reconnect, they are too many, so on top of everything else, instantbird even plays sounds per line in message. When nickserv or irc message has been send to you instantbird plays event sound for every single line. Event sound will be played several times, if you reconnecting when ns replies to you, it plays sound per every message. The problem is that ns often uses two or more messages in some cases which means two or more sounds will be played.
If you using multiple servers, those windows which shows up and sound events default behaviour can make you crazy.
Expected results:
When your nickname is registered and you don't use automatic authorization, ns or Instead, nickserv should message you, but their message should be kept on hold or just cause instantbird to blink and notification to show up.
When there are multiple events happening, like irc notifications, sound events, they should have some delay that should keep them from not showing up or playing all at once.
If there are multiple sound events in period of X time, you should receive one instead all per second or so.

Just in general, please file a single actionable issue per bug. Multiple issues in a single bug will most likely get close as INVALID.

I don't understand what "don't use automatic authorization" is, but I assume it means "I haven't typed in my password". In that case, I do not agree. We should notify the user that they are being asked to provide a password.

Why would we delay them or not show them? What is this goal?

I think we've had bugs filed about this, but I can't seem to find it...
Heya Clokep!
"I haven't typed in my password" Yes, it is about this sort of messages, when you are not registered irc doesn't bother you, but when you are, services nagging you. Yes user should be notified, notification should be visible, but not with windows pop up over the screen. If there is an option which would allow me to choose if i want new windows to open up instantly over the screen or not whenever someone write me that would be much better.
Delay, whenever i get a notification, the next notification covers the old one instantly, if i get several notifications, i cannot see them, i see only the last one since they showing up too fast, right after the previous, same behaviour as sound events.
I do apologize if i left the impression those features are not nice or needless, but now we don't have options to customize the notifications, sounds, windows behaviour and in case your connection goes down, then it can be bothersome.
I've opened a single ticket, because the problems are not related to the features, but connect/disconnect/reconnect behaviour of the im, if you have too much accounts, connected to multiple irc servers those sound events and notification literally "attacking" you.
My biggest problem is that IM directly opens new window, i can mute the sound events, but i can't stop the new windows from appearing.
As for the sound events and notifications, an option to mute certain conversations from your list will be nice or list of users which you don't want to receive sound or notifications from them.
Please, if you guys can do something so that can be optimized, it would be nice, the im itself is amazing, i love the project, just I wish there were more customizable options for those events.

When you say "notification" do you mean the new message notifications you can disable in Preferences or the fact that there is a conversation opened with Nickserv?

These issues are all unrelated (just because they happen around the same time does NOT mean they are related). One issues sounds like a specific issue you have with our IRC implementation the others involve how notifications or new conversations pop up, I can't tell which from your phrasing.
Please file separate bugs for individual problems with a list of steps to reproduce and a list of what is expected to happen. Thanks.
