User Story

As a user I want the app to app transitions using edge gestures to align with the UX spec so that my experience is consistent with the rest of the product.

Acceptance Criteria:
1. App to app transitions, as initiated from left or right edge gestures while more than one app are in the historical sheet stack, match the UX spec.

How much do we have left to do here? Is it time for ui-review or do we have to fix some UI?

Copy and pasted from a May 30 email....

I met with Etienne on Wednesday and there are some key features for edge gestures that need to be landed before it can be shipped... The biggest issue is the lack of orientation support. So, if you swipe from Gallery in landscape mode to a portrait app, you’ll see that the transition does not work as specified. Etienne is travelling to Taipei next week and will be working with Alive to land this feature.

Other open issues include:

Background syncing - Etienne will confirm the behaviour for background syncing when he meets with Alive next week. Basically, if a user has manually launched an app, background syncing should not affect its order within the sheet stack.

Tuning - The edge gesture is disabled when two fingers are touching the screen. However, if a user is reaching across the screen with their thumb, often the base of their thumb touches the opposite edge of the screen, unintentionally disabling the edge gesture. Etienne has filed a bug and is modifying the code to account for this scenario.

Indexed Scrolling - Previously indexed scrolling conflicted with the edge gesture. Vivien has landed a patch for this which I will review early next week.

I should add that these are the outstanding issues from a ux perspective. Etienne can elaborate on any other other items.

We didn't implement the spinner when a zombie app is loading.
I think we shouldn't block on this (the loading indicator) and focus on orientation.
