So we should replace the use of jQuery ajax methods with native XHR calls.

You can close it as I think they went with their own client implementation, though I don't know if that's something we still want on the long term.

I think we've moved on from this now. The newer requests are hidden behind the standaloneMozLoop as that fits with the desktop side of things.

We might consider sharing items between clients in the future, but lets look at that when we need to - I don't think its worth keeping this bug open at the moment.
