RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 981900

People

(Reporter: u123541, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140407030203

Steps to reproduce:

When I download latest Nightly and restart, some tabs come back with wrong history and/or passwords.

Filing this bug report in case others are seeing it...[1] Sorry for not having more specifics.

In case it matters, I have multiple windows with lots of tabs open. For example, this window is used for bug reporting and has 70 tabs open to bugs I've reported and am monitoring on different products. So restarting with all my bug reports available is great.

[1] Maybe a new initial bug status category is needed (beyond UNCONFIRMED, INVALID)... maybe OBSERVED or somesuch.

Actual results:

When I restart Nightly, I make sure that some tabs are sitting on a site's home page; yet, Nightly often restarts with an old, more specific link to that site. This is usually just aggravating on news sites where it brings up an old news story.

However, today I got "site reset connection" errors... when I finally got through by using another tab to the same site, the tab that was giving the error finally came up, and apparently was trying to use a months-old link where I had deleted my account. Fortunately, the old account and current one (same userid) had different passwords, or I might have lost the current account.

When Nightly restarts, some tabs show lots of Back button history -- I suspect this issue is related to that fact... just guessing.

Restarting where Nightly left off is a great feature -- for example, I can restart before hitting Submit right at this point, and Nightly will resume without losing the entered text. This is not the case on all sites, so it appears to be related to reconnecting with a valid userid/password. For some reason, Nightly apparently restarted with an old page which hadn't been used in months and would have deleted my account on that site.

Pierre, is this still happening to you in the latest Nightlies? I think bug 981900 might have fixed this.
