They're doing detection on the server side, based on user agent string.

Firefox for Android also receives the desktop site, while an iPhone UA gets a mobile site (though pretty basic): http://www.nseindia.com/wap/index.jsp

We should ask them to send Firefox mobile browsers to the mobile site as well. Note that Chrome Mobile doesn't get the mobile site either.

Yes confirmed. It seems only iOS devices receive the mobile version.
It is actually a good candidate for webcompat.com.
They seem to interact on their twitter account. Let's see.

We got a dialog opening. 

For NSEIndia
The Web site currently sends the desktop version of the content

How to Fix:

You may want to identify in lowercase the string

"mobi"  (and exclude "ipad" if you prefer ipad to receive the desktop version)
