Anthony Salinas from Treehouse has requested shipping data from donate.mozilla.org to be analyzed and get a sense of volumes to different countries.

Treehouse is also exploring the use of shipperhq.com for shipping.

Anthony description:
The shipping application is a web based app that is built by the company that we use for our magento solution.  They are building a hosted solution to build out all the shipping rules. We currently have 3500 rules for all the global locations and this app will be able to take our rules as is.  It is not live yet but is called shipperhq.com and will launch in May for the magento imagine and they are building shopify solution at the same time.

Can you get Anthony to create a bugzilla account and add him to this thread?

I'm not sure why using this or not is our decision, rather than Treehouse's.

Is this a potential solve for the single global shipping rate? 

I need more of the business context.

Geoff, 

We need a shipping rate look up solution and shipperHQ uses our existing rates/knowledge/logic as it is built by the same development company we use for magento.  Otherwise someone will have to build custom app and host on an external server to shopify to lookup rates.

The single global shipping rate is a dollar amount we decide and assign to a single TEE. But to calculate the rate to send say a tee, hoodie and messenger bag requires more complex logic and pricing per country.

Ah; got it. To parrot it back:

- ShipperHQ is what lets you get the shipping rates in real-time / transaction.
- The single global shipping rate exercise is separate.

And it's helpful to know our existing distribution range to make sure ShipperHQ covers what we need?

If so, adding Andrea to help get that information. (Andrea, we might need to bring in Mari.)

I want to be clear on what you need exactly:

-- Total orders 
-- Total orders shipped by country

I can get this relatively quickly for people who donated as part of our T-shirt premium campaign. Those will definitely be skewed toward US/Canada since our campaigns have been targeted there primarily.

However, there are orders and shipments made to Mozillians all over the world who order through our current intranet and I don't have access to that data. Maybe that's Mari?

I'm not sure that data set would be useful. It's mostly for events and other types of activities that we drive. The main 'passive' access data set (meaning where people find us) remains the t-shirt campaigns. But, as Andrea says, even that's not totally representative as we push campaigns to certain geographic territories more than others.

In short: There's no perfect data set from which to model.

Andrea, total orders shipped by country would be helpful. This will tell us which countries we need to ship to and provide some insight with guestimation extrapolation.  We can run our model past you guys to see if you think we are going right way.

We ship to almost every country now but want to skew toward your markets so we can come up with 1 price for a tee.

Geoff, shipper HQ really has nothing to do with the areas we ship - it is really just the logic engine behind getting a quote based on what we pass - it just will look at our rules table we have built/maintain over the years.
