I can't reproduce this with my main devices, but I'm fine with backing out bug 985867 if we're in a hurry here.
I can repro this. 

Sometimes hammering on a search result with dozens of taps will correctly fire a click.

I backed this out locally and I can still repro.

I lied - I accidentally backed out the backout. x_x I can no longer repro with the backout.
Fixed via the back-out of bug 985867.
